The Sea of Galilee is rich in memories of Jesus' ministry around its shores and we shall start this day with visits to the many pilgrim shrines located on the NW coast of the Sea. The first visit is to Capernaum which in Jesus' time was a flourishing border town and was called "his own city" because of the frequency with which He visited it and the mighty works he did there. We shall see the House of Peter and the ancient synagogue. Next is Tabgha with the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes, the Chapel of the Primacy. Next is the Mount of the Beatitudes, the scene of the Sermon on the Mount (Matth. 5). This is followed by a visit to the birthplace of Mary Magdala at Migdal. Then we drive to the city of Tiberias, one of the three Holy Cities of the Jewish people. From Tiberias we take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee, followed by lunch at St. Peter's Fish. Afternoon drive along the eastern shores of the Sea through the "Land of the Gardarenes" (Mark 5) and before we return to our hotel we shall pass a site which is thought to be the location of the feeding of the 4000.
